On On Friday, June 14th, the ELAC Foundation celebrated their sold-out 15th Annual ELAC President’s Gala, hosted at Taglyan. With over 450 guests in attendance, it was a very successful and exciting evening.
The theme of the Gala was “Transforming Lives Through Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, and awards were presented to those whom the organization felt truly has transformed lives.
Amazon Web Services received the President’s Entrepreneurship & Innovation Award; Congresswoman Judy Chu was given the President’s Leadership Award; Edison International was presented the ELAC Corporate Partner of the Year Award, and President and CEO of Cordoba Corporation, George L. Pla, received the Alumnus of the Year Award.
“I am forever grateful for the education and guidance I received as a student at ELAC,” said George L. Pla. “I am truly honored and humbled to be recognized as Alumnus of the Year. I hope that my journey will serve as an inspiration to demonstrate how our community college system can empower and provide the tools for future generations to succeed and make a difference in the lives of others.”
The East Los Angeles College Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization. Their mission is to promote and elevate the college in fulfilling its mission and reaching its goals through marketing and advocacy, community, and industry connections, as well as financial support. The Foundation’s singular goal is to enthusiastically support the programs of East Los Angeles College through its board membership.
The funds raised at the 15th Annual ELAC President’s Gala benefit ELAC students and future entrepreneurs of the East and Southeast Los Angeles community.
