Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2017 brought the newest and most beautiful wedding dresses to the runway from top designers like Monique Lhuillier, Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Marchesa, and many other talented designers. These designers masterfully created a way for brides to wear traditional wedding accoutrements, such as long sleeves, a train, a veil – but still bare some skin for a show stopping wedding look.
Pretty In Pink
As far as non-white bridal dresses, pink dresses reigned supreme for color of choice during fashion week. From the lightest pink to blush color, to embroidered florals to ombré dessert-like layers – it looks like this color family is going to be big for next year’s weddings.
Lace, Lace and More Lace
Lace is always a bridal mainstay, but for spring 2017, there seems to be more of it. These dresses are more laid-back, boho chic, as opposed to the traditional silhouettes we are used to seeing in wedding dress material.
Sheer Elements
You can’t go wrong with showing a little skin when it’s tastefully done. Many of the wedding designers played with beautiful sheer elements, including embellished, modesty cutout panels and see-through embroidered tops and dresses.
Extravagant Trains and Veils
These two classic dress elements have stayed prominent through the years. The veils on the runway were accented with embroidery, lace, and beading. The romantic trains ranged from a shorter church length to very long trains, as seen at some Royal weddings.
Off The Shoulder
The off-the-shoulder silhouette was one of the most prominent spring runway trends during Bridal Week. Designers got creative with the shoulder-baring style, from the traditional open neckline to cutouts.
Deep Plunge
A deep plunging neckline is another top trend for next year. From a discreet illusion-covered slash to a down-to-the-pelvis V-neck plunge, this style of wedding dress is all about the bride’s cleavage.
Capes
While capes aren’t necessarily new to the runway, they are definitely having a big moment in the bridal world. From Lela Rose’s collared, button-down cape to Naeem Khan’s lace-trimmed, high-low cape, it’s safe to say capes are in for spring 2017.
Lingerie-esq Bridal Wear
Too sexy! The ’90s slip dress was a popular feature on the runway for Spring 2017. In addition, bustier tops with lace, embroidery, elaborate beading and creative illusion paneling was featured on many of the bridal dresses.
Detachable Elements
Wedding gowns are beautiful, but dancing, sitting, or even using the bathroom in a wedding dress is something else. This season designers added practicality and function and added detachable or convertible elements to styles.
Overall, it was another awe-inspiring Bridal Fashion Week. All the designers brought their A-game during this week long glamorous event. Take a look at some of the exquisite wedding gowns that made it to the runway:
