On June 7, 2012, Taglyan Cultural Complex will be hosting the Heroes of Hollywood Awards Luncheon sponsored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, where awards are presented to men and women who give back to the community and play a huge role in the betterment of the area.
The ceremony serves as a benefit for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation, a non-profit that works for individuals in the Hollywood community.
The headliner is Playboy owner and founder Hugh Hefner, receiving the Hollywood Distinguished Service Award in Memory of Johnny Grant.
Also receiving awards are Dr. Kwang Yul Cha, who is founder and Chancellor of Cha Health Systems and Cha University in Seoul, Korea and currently owns Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.
Also, officers Michael Ayala, Michael Coogle, Kevin Cotter, George Islas, Detective Craig Marquez, Sgt. Dave McCall, Sgt. Solomon Patton, and officer Leonard Sterling will be honored for preventing a disturbed individual from opening fire at bystanders on the intersection of Sunset and Vine.
Laurie Goldman of GO! will receive honors for her community service and advocacy of the Hollywood Central Park project, and the Sundher Family will as well for opening the Hollywood Wax Museum in 1965 and continuing to support the community and build the “brand” of Hollywood.
Also being honored is Albert Sweet of Occidental Entertainment Group Holdings, Inc. for purchasing and remodeling buildings in order to keep the film and TV industries in Hollywood throughout the decades.
